Friday's Afternoon Stocks to Watch

At about 3:05 pm EST, the market is trading sideway all day long. It is nice to see trading sideway after a big surge like yesterday. I believe the market is back on track to away from the down trend until the FED gives us something we do not want to see.
(MERX) is trading strong today. It was mentioned at around $10.70 as a buy, now it is about $11.05. Keep your close eyes on this one. If it pulls back to the support level (around $10), I will buy more.

Merix Corp. Continues With Strength Today

Merix Corp. (MERX) follows thru with yesterday's strong up momentum yesterday after it reported better than expected earnings as well as forecast. It marched on with higher high than yesterday. A good strong indication. I believe more upsides for this one.
Accrdoing to company release info:
Merix Corp. (NASDAQ: MERX - News) had Q4 2006 sales of $100.3 million, with earnings of $3.5 million, or 17 cents per share, compared with sales of $51.6 million, with a loss of $1.7 million, or 9 cents per share in the fourth quarter of 2005.

Friday's Pre-Market

The market is expected to open higher today on the day after the FED made the interest rate annoucement. Wow! That was a great high day yesterday. The Nasdaq market was up over 3%, and other indexes were up over 2% yesterday as well. I believe we have touched the short term bottom now. Look for more up days to come until the US economy sunk, but I think it is very unlikely for now.
Look for buying opportunities in the coming days.

Wednesday's Afternoon Stocks to Watch

At about 2:00 pm EST, the market is trading flat with low volume on the day when the FED meets to discuss intereste rate movements. The market is directionless today. The biggest loser is (RMBS). (RMBS) is found to have option grant problems which will affect earnings reported in the past. This is not a good PR to have for any stock. I would not buy stocks which have reporting problems.

The Market Is Taking A Hint Today

The market is trading lower in the mid afternoon session. If you notice the most active list from the Nasdaq, only 3 out of 20 stocks are up slightly, mainly (MSFT), (YHHO), and (RBNC).

Up volumes vs down volumes are about 8-to-2 on the Nasdaq and 7-to-3 on the NYSE. Advancers to decliners are about 2-to-1 on both exchanges.

Caution should be employed right now. Avoid buying and think about shorting or just holding cash if you are not comfortable with shorting.

Shorting Candidates?

The market has decided to turn south around mid-morning. This can bring opportunities for short sellers.
The following is a list for potential shorting and profit from it:

(HANS)
(MRVL)
(NVR)
(FMCN)
(ATRS)
(BOT)
(MMS)

Tuesday's Pre-Market

The market is expected to open slightly lower today due to the higher oil price. For the first time in 2 weeks, it went back to $72 per barrel again.

What is ahead next week for stocks

Stock market closed slightly lower Friday. For the week, all indexes closed slightly lower as well. The DOW broke the 11000 mark barrier again. Nasdaq is still above 2100. Today's volume is lower than the typical trading days. It is very still very hard to say if the down trend is over now. We just have to take it on a day by day basis.

Thursday's Afternoon Stocks to Watch

At about 1:45pm EST, the market is trading down. The only positive news for today's trading day is lack of volume. From the technical prospective point of view, it does not count as another distribution day. The following thru day is still hopefully for the bulls.
The best investment for the current situation would still be CASH. I would avoid the best gainers of late.

Thursday's Pre-Market

The market is expected to open slightly lower today probably due to the fact that the price of oil is above $71 today. Wednesday's Afternoon Stocks to Watch

At about 1:45pm EST, the market is in rally mode. The bull is full control today. The only missing piece is lack of volume, but it nevertheless higher than Tuesday's volume. I will give another few more days to see what the extend of this rally means. The rally is probably due to the fact (FDX) and (MS) had better than expected results.
There are many winners today. Advances are broadly based stocks, a good sign for the market.

Tuesday's Afternoon Stocks to Watch

At about 2:30pm EST, the market is still indecisive on which direction to take. It had its see-saw battle all day long. From flat to up, then to flat again. Without any market uptrend, it is very hard to buy anything right now.
The biggest loser is (ATU) after it guided its earning downward. A brokerage firm downgraded the stock from outperform to peer perform. It is in the business of making motion control systems.

At about 1:00pm EST, the market is rally mode has stopped cold by the bears. The problem with recent rally was lack of constance, such as low volume up days and vilatile swings. This trend may continue until "indicator" merges. I will update on my blog when this "condition" has occurred. Stay Tune.

What is ahead next week for stocks

Stock market closed lower Friday after a massive up days last Thursday. Most energy, metal, and tech stocks were lower today. The turnaround for market yesterday was dur to Bernanke 's (FED chairman) speech. "Inflation is manageable" and "oil has seen its highs" were the motivation behind the pushup. I have to see the confimation of the bull's action before getting my feet wet again.

Friday's Afternoon Stocks to Watch

At about 2:30pm EST, the market is down slightly. Volume is on track to be much higher than yesterday's volum because of option expiration day. More new lows than new highs. Decliners are outpaced advancers by 2-to-1 on both exchanges.
Looks like we have to wait for the follow thru day next week if we ever get one. I would still sit on the sideline and wait for the tide to be turned for the bulls.

Market is Rolling Back??

Yesterday's winners are today's losers: Coal -2.7%, Mining -1.9%, Oil Service -1.9%, Steel -1.6%, Oil -1%, Commodity Index -1%, Gold/Silver -0.9%, semi -0.5%.

Yesterday's move is mostly due the Bernanke's effect. The question is still remain: will the FED overshot the rate hike which causes dramatic slow down to the US economy? The market is the best forecaster for the future of the US economy. Like I have mentioned before, wait for confirmation before jumping in.

On thing I do not like for the market is: more new lows than new highs.

Friday's Pre-Market

The market is expected to open slightly lower today following yesterday's monstrous up day. Volume has increased on the Nasdaq to 2.3 billion, and flat volume on the NYSE. It is a nice welcome for the big up swing for the bulls. Could Wednesday's low be the short bottom? Only future can tell. But I will watch for any following through in the coming days before jumping my feet wet into the market again soon. There are definitely a lot of stocks worth buying once the dust is settled. I will point them out once the sky is cleared.
(ORCL) reported better than expected earning. It could be the support for the big cap tech market stocks. But this one has been a lacker for many years. It could be a non-event for the tech stocks.
(OVTI) is disappointment for the chip stocks. Watch for related stocks on how well they can hold the levels.

Is the Rally for Real?

The market is roaring back with over 2.5% gain for the Nasdaq, and over 1.5% for DOW and S&P500. Bernanke, the Fed chairman, has spoken about the inflation is not a concern in the future. Could this be the bottom? I believe volume will do justice for us. If I see higher volume (1.3% higher than yesterday), then I would have more comfort putting my money into the market.

Thursday's Afternoon Stocks to Watch

At about 1:00pm EST, the market is rallying again with yesterday's continuing strength. The key is to see how the afternoons trades around 3:00pm EST, and as well as tomorrow (Friday). The biggest fear is still inflation fear. What worries me is the drastic down market in the coming days. Down days will cause margin calls, margin calls will force people to sell. I would play this market with caution.

Bear Market Rally??

Are we in the bear market rally? I'll use today's strength to sell before the close today if the strength fades. Here is the interesting article from Trading Market:
All The Signs Of A Bear Market
Thursday June 15, 8:48 am ET
By Gary Kaltbaum We think conditions are such that a bear market rally is in order. We say this for one simple reason...world markets, major indices, sectors and stocks are extended and stretched about as far as they will go. We are not saying one will occur. We are saying that the conditions are now there. How long any rally lasts or how far it goes is another story. Our best guess is that the S&P 500 now has a wall in the 1245-1260 area and the DOW has a wall in the 11,000 area. Lastly, the most stretched and extended areas are the COMMODITIES and the EMERGING MARKETS. We expect the most violent reactions to be in these areas.

Other notes:

One of the most important areas of the market...the BIG FINANCIALS have now topped and are already rolling over. This is huge because this area makes up a big part of the S&P. Just another area to say bye-bye as it will now join the rest of the misery to a certain extent. Just look at these charts.

We had told you that BONDS were in an overall bear market but in a near term bounce. Odds now favor that the bounce is over.

The last of the leadership in names like (NasdaqNM:BIDU - News), (NYSE:HANS - News), (NasdaqNM:NTRI - News), (NasdaqNM:SHLD - News) are now going by the wayside. This is just another characteristic of a bear market...as in bear markets, they come get them all.

It's a negative:

That NEW LOWS have picked up dramatically.

ADVANCE/DECLINE figures remain a horror show.

Bounces cannot even last a day.

Too many people that do not understand the characteristics of a bear market continue to call for a bottom on a daily basis and continue to tout new stocks that are obliterated days later.

Companies that are raising their estimates rally for an hour and then head south. Good news is bad news.

The Federal Open MOUTH Committee cannot keep their jaws shut. We know...THERE IS INFLATION. Thanks for reporting the news. But more importantly, economic growth is falling off a ledge...and the market is begging them to realize it.

Thursday's Pre-Market

Blogger was down in the morning extensively for the past few days. I was not able to do updates during the pre-market hour before the markte opens. Like I have mentioned before, hopefully the blogger has solved its problems onward.

The market is expected to open higher today following yesterday's up day yesterday. It was a first up days for the market in many days. Hopefully this strength can be continue for today and tomorrow. There are bargain hunters out there who wants to catch some bottom fish. I believe there are still more down side risk in the coming days and weeks. The market is only a tradable market right now. You have to quick and nimble, otherwise you will get burn very quickly.

At about 2:10pm EST, the market started up this morning, but it quickly faded away as time passed. The bear force has proven too much for the bull. The trend is still down. Nasdaq is aiming for the 2000 mark soon. So watch out for more bottoming to come. Don't be greedy into thinking that you can buy stocks cheap. Cheaper prices are coming to the market near you.

Market is On the Move?

The Nasdaq market suffered its 8th straight lost yesterday. Its worst consecutive down sides in many years. Will the market recover some today? Based on the CPI came out today, it is can be another dead cat bounce day today. If you are skillful enough, you maybe able to make some short term money, or you can get killed in the blood bath market. I personally will stay away of the market right now, and I would use the up days as an opportunity to exist my positions.

Market is Still Weak

The market opened up for a brief moment this morning. It then sung down because of the bear force is too much for the bull today. The bull is very tired right now. The bear in the upper hand. Here are the reasons: surge of oil price causes inflation (shipper charges merchant for higher cost of shipping goods, merchant charges consumer for higher price of the item sold); more FED hike(s) are coming (limiting spedning by businss and consumer) causes economy to slow down (high price causes consumer to spend less); Recession in the making? That is the question for the traders.
Right now, stay on the sideline and watch.

Market is Turmoil Again

My internet connection has problem this morning. That is why I could check for stock quotes and post anything before the market opens.

The market started up slightly this morning, but it could not sustain its level, and it failed again. The fear could be contributed as the following:fear of inflation, more FED hikes, slow down in US and world economy, and it may lead to recession.
The best holding right now is CASH. CASH is the king of investment right now. The next test level for Nasdaq could be 2000. So we may see more down sides coming before stablizing.

Friday's Afternoon Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading mixed at 2:45 pm EST. Unlike yesterday's reversal from deep down to about even, it went the opposite direction. Friday's Pre-Market

The market is expected to open higher today following yesterday's reversal. But the market has reversed slightly from the high of the day after the Trade Deficit announcement thismorning. The Trade Deficit rise in April because of surging oil prices. Also the mid-day update report from (TXN) yesterday gave a boost to the support of the market.
To see if the bottom has been seen, then we need support of the market with a good following day. Otherwise more downside is coming.

After Market Review

Blogger still has problem today, I can't make any update in the afternoon while the market was opened. Hopefully this problem will go away soon.

The market has recovered from the deep lost today. Volume has increased tremendously. Both DOW and S&P index have come back positive, but Nasdaq was still down about 7 points for the day. Technically, it is still a distribution day for the Nasdaq market. If we can see a follow-thru session in the next few days, then today could be the bottom near term. But it is still too soon to tell. I would still wait on the sideline for more clear indications.

Thursday's Pre-Market

Blogger was down extensively yesterday. I was not able to do updates during the market was opened. Hopefully the blogger has solved its problems today and onward.

The market is expected to open lower today following yesterday's down reversal yesterday. The major concern is still with the fear of inflation which causes the FED to raise rate again. There is no positive reaction to the news that confirmation of terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's death which causes spike in oil prices below $70 per barrel. FED stops rate hike can only be the good news to the market. Hold off your cash and wait for opportunities to come.

Wednesday's Pre-Market

The market is expected to open slightly higher today. With yesterday's strength at the close could bring further buying today. Tuesday's Pre-Market

The market is expected to open slightly higher today. The market is trying to recover some of the losses from yesterday's big selloff. Fortunately, the selloff for yesterday was not dramatic. It was less than the typical trading days. Many institutions did not participate yesterday's massive down day. The price of oil is down slightly, but it still over $70 per barrel. Moday's Afternoon Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading lower at 2:15 pm EST. It started lower at the open, and it continues its downward momentum. The major blame for today's market is the price of oil is over $73 after the Iran conflict remains trouble for the oil market. The good news from the down day is lack of volume, meaning institution money is not selling yet.

What is ahead next week for stocks

Stock market closed mixed Friday after 6 days of attempt rally. The force of rally is not as strong as an indicator for the market bottom is made. But rallies are always welcome by the bulls. Today's market started strong after the employment number came out, but it reversed downward. I do not like the action today. Fortunately it closed with a small change. I expect more volatility in the coming days until the FED is done with the rate hike.

Cheap Stock on the Breakout

OMNI Energy Services Corp. (OMNI), broke out of the 52 week high today with massive volume today. At 2:30pm EST, Omni Energy Sees 2Q Sales Beating Street.

Friday's Afternoon Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading lower at 2:30 pm EST. It reversed from this morning's strong open. The market is still struggling with the FED's decision on future inflation. Until this issue is solved, the market can be gyrated like a yo-yo, like the past few weeks. One important element missing from yesterday's rally was lack of volume. I believe this time around is sit tight and wait for the opportunity to get in again later.

Friday's Pre-Market

As expected, the market looks like it will open higher today following the announcement of the employment number this morning. Non-farm payrolls rose a less than expected 75K vs. estimate of 170K. The April read was revised down to 126K from 138K. Hourly earnings rose 0.1%, slightly below economists' forecast of 0.3%. Traders are expecting the FED to pause for the June meeting.
We had a good rally yesterday. Athough the volume was not as great as the down days, but it was higher than the previous day. It is another accumulation day for the traders. With today's momentum, hopefully the volume will pick up and a good BAM! Then we can declare the day trend is over for the near term.

Nasdaq Broke the 2200 Barrier

Volume has picked up in the last few hours. The Nasdaq market broke the 2200 barrier with very impressive gain. I bet a lot of short covering is in place now. Find your bargains and start some buying now.

Thursday's Afternoon Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading a higher at 2:15 pm EST. This is the 6th attempt rally started last Wednesday. Breadth was positive with advancers trousing decliners by more than 2-to-1 on the NYSE and nearly 2-to-1 on the Nasdaq. Volume is on pace to be higher than Wednesday. It is great to see several consecutive up days. But we do need to keep in mind that tomorrow could be the break or make day for the market.
Tomorrow can dictate how the market will perform in the short term. If the number announced is great, we can see an explosion to the upside. On the other hand, it can send the market in a tail spin if the number is bad. If you are brave, you can place your bet accordingly.

DXP Enterprises (DXPE) Alert

DXP Enterprises (DXPE) is testing the 50-Day SMA (about $41.50). Volume is heavy to the down side. Watch for the support at this level. If it breaks the support, get out ASAP.

Cheap Stock On the Breakout

Sangamo Biosciences Inc. (SGMO), broke out of the 52 week high today with very strong volume today. Averge volume on this stock is about 135K. But at 10AM EST, it is already at 530K. Be a lookout for this one. There is news related to this stock today on the Yahoo news.

Thursday's Pre-Market

The market looks like it will open slightly higher or flat today. The market has improved from much lower levels earlier this morning after the initial jobless claim number as well as the Q1 productivity number announced this morning. But the biggest news will be tomorrow's unemployment report due out before the market. Traders will have more important data to digest once the news come out. I would not place a lot of bet before this very important data. It can send the market into a tail spin if traders do not like those data.
