What is ahead next week for stocks

Stock market closed mixed Friday. The tech neavy Nasdaq closed down 22 points, or about 1%, because of the bad forecast by Microsoft (MSFT). Some of the recent leaders saw some big losses for the past few sessions, leaders such as (NWRE), (MSTR), (DRIV), (JOYG). Earning is focal points for the recent sessions. Disappointing earnings will crush the stocks. I would be careful not to buy stocks or hold stocks in front of earning release day.

Friday's Pre-Market

I still no response from blogger regarding my lost posts. I have a site because of this problem. Anyway, I will re-do my site this weekend.

Here is the breakdown for this morning's pre-market info. The market looks to be opened lower this morning due to the disappointing earning forecast by the big cap well known Microsoft (MSFT), the one used to be the duck that layed the golden egg if you get in early in the game. But the companyis growth is saturated due to its size and market cap. I do believe if the company is getting too big and it will stop growing. (MSFT) is an excellent example of it. On the other hand, company like (GOOG) is not around that long, it has better potential to grow than Microsoft. This stock can be the stock like (MSFT) in the 90's. Pay close attention to its growth, if it starts to have slow growth, watch out.

Wednesday's Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading slightly higher at 2:00 pm EST. No slow down in capital spending as well as the housing market with record high oil prices. Durable good order in March came in much higher than expected. New home sale in March came in 13% higher than last yesterday. (LIFC) and (WIRE) beat estimates handily this morning. The Dow's gain is contributed to the gain in (GM) & (T).

Wednesday's Stocks to Watch

The market looks like it will open slightly lower today after the durable good number announced this morning. The March durable good order came in at 6.1% much higher than expected of 1.8%. Looks like corporations and consumers still did not feel the pinch of oil price yet. FED maybe still on pace to boost rate in the coming meetings. This is getting very interesting because consumer confidence level was higher than last month announced yesterday even though price of oil is at all time high. It is getting more complex now. But I do feel the effect will come in the coming weeks.
(URAM) is on of the heaviest shorted stock, shorters will get burned today because of the better than expected earning. It beat the estimate by 11 cents. It may go back to the old highs very soon. Shorting in this market is very dangerous. I would not advise shorting right now.

Some of the previous leaders have collapsed, such as (STMP) and (ACL). If you are a stock trader, you have to watch them very closely. Like yesterday, the price of oil (still $73 per barrel) as well as the stream of corporate earnings coming this week will be the focal point today. No major news from the government today. (NTRI) is the star for the day, as well as (ZRAN). They both beat the estimate by a wide margin. On the other hand (STMP) slumped down bad from yesterday's close.

Monday's Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading lower at 2:00 pm EST. Like I have mentioned previously, the price of oil is focal point for many trading sessions to come. It is above the $75 now which sent the gasoline price to over $3 per gallon for the consumers in the US. (TZOO) is again on the top of the biggest gainers for the few sessions. It is up over 100% in about a week after it announced earnings. This is a very heavily short traded stock. It is a lesson for the short traders, never and never short a strong uptrend stock in any market.
(ZVXI) is doing quite well too. I also bought it the same day I mentioned last week. If the market is good, I believe this one can be a high flier.

What is ahead for stocks next week

The market closed down Friday after the price of oil inches upward. Like I have mentioned several times, the price of oil will be on every traders' mind in the coming weeks and months unless we can the situation improves, such as FED stops raising rates, more dollars inflow to the market, less tension with IRAN, etc. I would invest in stocks in the energy related fields or something that is immune to energy crisis.

Here is the earning calender given on Yahoo, it can a week with a lot of volatility:

Friday's Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading mixed at 2:00 pm EST. The tech heavy Nasdaq is trading lower just like yesterday. Even (GOOG) is marching higher with about 6% gain, it did not help the Nasdaq. Today is the day for small cap stocks like (ZVXI) and (CBEY). (ZVXI) announced 3-to-2 split coming soon. (CBEY) went up without news. (ZVXI) has been mentioned a few month back as a potential buy. It almost breaks out the old high with good volume. Watch this one with a close eye.

Friday's Pre-Market Stocks to Watch

The market looks like it will open slightly higher today. The big story of the day are: (GOOG) beat estimates and short covering of the stock; price of oil is dropping about $1 per barrel (but it is still above $70 per barrel); the big cap names like (MMM), (BRCM), (SLB), and (COF) also beat estimates. The earning season continues. Today is also option expiration day, volume could be higher than normal trading days.

Thursday Mid-Day Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading mixed at 2:00 pm EST. The tech heavy Nasdaq is lower by aboyt 7 points, the DOW and S&P 500 are higher. The big cap stocks are led by (GM), (MRK), and (MO). The other winning group is trucking companies, mainly by (SWFT), which beat estimate by a wide margin. Another big winner in the small arena is (AVCI), great earning came out this morning. The consumable good company winner is (SHOO), again beat by a big margin. Another thing to watch is the price of oil is at $74 per barrel, all time high, as well as gold, is sitting at $640 per oz. Extra care is warrented.

Small Cap Stock Made Its Move Today

Avici Systems Inc. (AVCI), the company makes optical gears for routers, made new 52-week high today. It was mentioned as stocks to watch in the pre-market. If you bought it this morning like me, you would make $1 per share, or $100 per 100 shares. It went as high as $8.25 because of the earning announcement this morning.

So why I like this stock so much, its earning was double from last year. It is in the very hot industry , fiber optics, check out stocks like, (GLW), (OPTC), (AVNX), and even the lowly (JDSU). They are the strong stocks in the hot industry. Internet broadband is ever growing. This can be the ticket to high growth.

Look at the chart for yourself, you will see what I meant.

Thursday's Pre-Market

The market looks like it will open slightly higher today. The devilish price of oil is marching up again passing the $72 per barrel mark for the first time in the historic high. For the past two sessions, traders seem to ignore the price oil is increasing, perhaps they think oil price increasing is inevitable. Also they think as long as FED is not increasing the interest rate in the near future, it could be good for the market. But the risky of higher oil price is still there, I would be cautious for now unless it has strong momentum and benefit from the oil price crisis like the one I have mentioned a few days ago, (WFR).

(PLAY) was the biggest casualty today, (AAPL) is dropping its chips. It is a one shot wonder stock. Stay away from it. (AAPL), on the other hand is up because of the iPod success. As well as (NOK) beat estimates. (AVCI) beat estimate in a big way.

Wednesday's Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading slightly higher at 1:30 pm EST. The major news for the day was CPI announcement this morning. The core rate (excluding food & engergy) is increased by 0.3% last March. Most of the companies reported strong earning, but the devil oil is trading flat, and it is still above $70 mark. This is the biggest obsticle for the market to overcome. (WFR) as mentioned previous few days, it is still very well. It had 3 consecutive up days after it announced the $16 billion for 8 years agreement. Put that one on your watch list.

Wednesday's Pre-market

The market looks like it will open higher today from yesterday's up momentum strength. The price of oil has dropped slightly. So what was the driving force behind yesterday's strong bull move? I believe because the following reasons: tame inflation report from PPI, FED announced the end of interest hike cycles, strong corporate reports, and slow down in house starts which could translate into people pulling out of the housing market into stocks. After yesterday's close (TXN) and (YHOO) had good reports last night. This morning (PFE), (KO), (HON), (JPM), (UTX) and (GD) had good reports. Perhaps this has been the biggest source of follow-through buying so far for the market. But I still the price of oil can be the fear factor in the coming weeks. We shall see how this issue will be settled with the traders.

Tuesday's Stocks to Watch

Unlike yesterday, the stock markets are trading dramatically higher at 2:15 pm EST. The fear of oil price surpassed the $70 mark is disappearing today after the PPI announcement. I am not sure if this is a one-day wonder or not, maybe this is an excuse for traders to get back to the bull move after several down days. I would wait and see because the thread of higher oil price is real, and demand for it is real also. I would only buy oil related strong issues for now, (WFR) is a good example of it, see my previous blog why I like it so much.

Solar Play for the High Oil Price

MEMC Electronic Materials Inc (WFR), just announced signed a letter of intent to supply Taiwanese solar-cell maker Motech Industries with solar wafers this morning. The stock has popped past the 52-week high this monring.
With the ever increasing price of oil, I believe this can be a stock leader in the months to come. The contract they have announced is for eight-year deal would generate at least $1.6 billion in revenue. Wow! This is incredible for one maker along, imagine if more solar makers join in. This can be a very lucretive business.

Monday's Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading drasticly lower at 2:15 pm EST. The blame for the down drift are the price of oil is higher than $70 per barrel and gold price is marching above $600 per oz. The price of oil will have the biggest impact on the economy which translates into lower earnings from companies. This will be getting worse as summer driving season is coming. As I have mentioned last week, the stock market will go in sync with the price of oil, oil up, stocks down. I would be careful when I place my stock bets right now.

What is ahead for stocks next week

The market closed on Friday because of the Good Friday holiday. All exchanges close down for the week because of the price of oil have creeped out to about $68 per barrel now. This problem will be with us for the time being. The market is trading in sync with the oil price lately. I believe this the current market indicator. I would be carefully with the market unless the sentiment changes.

Here is the earning calender given on Yahoo, it can a week with a lot of volatility:

Thursday's Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading higher at 2:00pm EST. The only problem with this rally is lack of volume, and price of oil is at $68 per barrel. (BTUI) continues its upward trend from yesterday's massive high volume move. (AMD) disappointed traders with its forecast. (SGMS) and (SNDK) are being added to the indexes. Watch for (GOOG), (YHOO), (INTC), (EBAY), and (MOT) to report earnings next week.

Wednesday's Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading slightly higher at 2:30pm EST. The market is in sync with the price of oil. The action today is not too encouraging, the volume is much lower than yesterday. Perhaps one of the heavy hitter tonight after hour is (AMD). It will announce its quarterly earning tonight. Look for wild swing for the stock in either direction depending on how or bad the earning it. The prediction is: it will beat estimate. (BTUI) broke out with strong volume today. Earning has been increased for the past few quarter. This looks like a stock leader in the semi capital equipment field. Keep you eye on this one.

Wednesday's Pre-Market

The market looks like it will open slightly higher today after the past two days' sell-off. The price of oil is on every trader's mind every day for the past few trader sessions. It does not matter on how good the earning season is, the bottomline is "Price of oil" affect future earnings. The stock market is in sync with "price of oil", if oil up, then stock is down. Since the price of oil is down today, the stock market follows, I expect the market up today because of it.
On the corporate front, (DNA) and (CC) beat estimates, (AVID) plunged. The trade deficit announcecd this morning showed that it is better than expected.

Tuesday Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading lower at 2:30pm EST. The price of oil is the major factor for today's big decline. It has overshadowed the great news from (NOK) and better than expected earning news from (AA). The oil of price has been climbing steady for the past few weeks now, with summer driving season is coming and the conflict from middle East, no relief is insight.

Monday's Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading mixed at 3:00pm EST. The tech heavy Nasdaq is trading down, with many leading small cap stocks are trading down hard. (NEU), (IVAC), (NWRE), and (CHAP) are just a few of those examples. Chasing high flyers like those can be risky to your wallet right now. I would stay on the sideline until the market improves.

What is ahead for next week

The last day of trading was horrible, all indexes were down after the labor data was announced Friday morning. Although the indexes were down Friday, all indexes are about unchange for the week. The good news was volume was not as higher as last Thurday. So it does not count as a distribution day. I believe the market has more legs to the upside in the coming days. (AAPL) was the star of the week after it announced new software to support Windows OS for MAC. It is an extra revenus stream for the hardware maker. Watch out Dell and HP, the MAC is coming.

Here is the what we should be watching next week, quoted from Yahoo News:

Friday's Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading down in a ugly fashion at 2:30pm EST. It opened higher, but it then turned south after the labor data has been digested, and it has never looked back. That is not what we wanted to see for the bulls. Volume looks like it may be more than yesterday's volume. The only good gainer is (CME) after it gets Electronic Exclusive On Nymex Energy Futures. Another new high for this market leading stock.

Stocks has turned South

The stock market has turned south after the inital run-up this morning. Traders are affraid of the weekend for the recent trading weeks. I believe it may have a good chance to come back next week.
Set your stocks on the watch list, once the tide turns, get in.

Friday's Pre-market

The market looks like it will open solidly higher today. The job data came out at 8:30am EST this morning, the main focal point of the data is the hourly earnings grew slightly less than expected 0.2%, versus the 0.3% expected. Also the unemployment rate was 4.7%, slightly below the 4.8% consensus estimate. Non-farm payrolls were up a more than expected 211,000 (estimate 190,000), but the February data was revised downward by 18,000 to 225,000. In line with expectations, the average workweek was 33.8 hours. Overall the data is great for stocks. I expect more upsides are coming for the bulls.

It introduced new products this morning. I also bought more this morning when it stopped going down. I believe more upsides for this gem.

Tuesday's Stocks to Watch

The stock markets are trading higher at 2:00pm EST. Unlike yesterday's trading pattern, it is just slightly off today's high. Trading volume has slowed a bit as compared to yesterday's pace.
(OPTC) continues its winning path by adding another $.60 after upped about $3 yesterday. The beauty of this stock is that it only has a market capitalization of $95 million and a float of just 3 million shares. Once the institution picks up, it will FLY. This stock was mentioned yesterday morning after up less than $1.

This stock may have more upsides if people see the newspaper coverage tomorrow morning. This company has less than $100 million market cap. It has the power to swing to the upside.

What is ahead for next week.

This week we saw the Nasdaq made a new multi-year high this week. This high confirms with the highs of the DOW and S&P 500 made a few weeks back. This week the Nasdaq market was up about 1.5% with very good volume. Friday's session was just another minor correction for the Nasdaq market. I believe more upside is coming in the coming weeks with all major indexes confirming newer highs.

Here is the what we should be watching next week, quoted from Yahoo News:
